Valleys Custom Acoustical Line features complete custom instruments with unique features. Meticulous care is taken to perfect every detail, providing a one of a kind, custom instrument.
Whilst our custom instruments follow essentially traditional lines, you may notice from the pictures ( particularly the first three pictures) that the Guitars appear to be deeper than the traditional instrument. Take for example the Malaysian Blackwood Instrument, this is our version of an OM, however it is deeper and is braced differently than the traditional OM, this example has an inbuilt bevel, and most OM’s that leave our shop also have the small finger cutaway in the upper right side bout, thus allowing easy assess to the notes in the upper register. In our opinion the added depth gives a much greater dynamic range to the instrument, giving it a focused clear bottom end and bell like transient highs.The inbuilt bevel on the lower bout was originally designed for comfort but has the unintended advantage of giving the instrument the feel of a smaller or Traditional OM, in other words, you do not notice the additional depth.
The Tiger Myrtle and Baritone are also deeper for the same reasons. The Tiger Myrtle Guitar is based on Malaysian Luthier, Jeff Young’s JJ Model, this is a unique instrument in its own right and accordingly we have made little change to Jeff’s design. Valleys has also included it in our Custom range as it’s design concepts, volume and tone are very similar to the qualities we have achieved with our Baritone and modified OM. The Tiger Myrtle (VGJJ-DRED model) has a 25.4″ scale, the VG Baritone has a 27.5″ scale and the VGOM has a 25.4″ scale. All of Valleys Custom Guitars have compound radiused fretboards (unless otherwise specified).
